Hello and welcome to American Northwest Aviation's (ANA) Flight Training and
Ground School! Please look around on this website to learn more about American Northwest Aviation. On the pages that request a log-on ID and password please contact us for access.
We would like to offer you some initial ground instruction in preparation for the Private Pilot Written test or at whatever stage you are in your training such as Instrument rating or Commercial certificate. Career advice is also available for a very reasonable price; please contact us and we can arrange that. Please let us know what your goals are and I can help you further develop and refine them and set out to accomplish them. My specialty is directing you to all the free information out there saving you lots of money towards paying for flight instructors, aircraft rental, and reference material. In fact, about the only book that I recommend that isn't free is a Private Pilot written exam test guide.
Your first goal should be to prepare to pass the Private Pilot written exam if you have not already done so concurrently with a familiarization flight with a flight school that we can arrange. While preparing for the written exam, now called the knowledge test, we will work together in the flight simulator or online with you on you PC flight computer with the free MS FSX flight simulator software available below for free.
The text books available on the website that I am directing you to will be the first resources that you will need to study to pass the written exam. I will give more direction on what areas to concentrate on.
Your second goal should be to accomplish an introductory training flight with your local flight school if you have not already done so. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $100! You should never sign up for an expensive course or sign a contract with a flight school! Please talk to me first so I can save you thousands.
Before or after your introductory flight we will begin using a desktop flight simulator. I am using MS Flight Simulator 2020 A320 and C-152/172 to stay current and instruct on and we can meet for your free intro simulator flight lesson at my Bellingham workshop. I just finished the process of upgrading my computer to run the MS Flight Simulator 2020. I currently use a 42 inch screen and a joystick with power lever, brakes, view switching and trim switches. This is a simple and realistic flight simulator! Microsoft Flight Simulator X is a multi-award winning flight simulator, part of the Microsoft flight simulator series. Initially released in 2006. Please watch the video to help guide you through the download and demonstration of the demo version. For our students you will receive a legal copy of the full, version which includes the whole world and many more aircraft including the C-172, B-737, B-747, and A320 . The demo version includes the Barron, and CRJ as well as a couple of others. For Private Pilot trainees is is best to use the 172 which is available in the full version but not the demo. The Barron will be useful to the Private Pilot trainees while having only the demo version.
